CAPO FERRATO AND THE BEACH OF FERAXI

An ideal excursion for those who wish to discover the wildest Sardinia, marked by the volcanic eruptions of Monte Ferru and enjoy the beauty of the seabed while snorkelling. You will sail along the coast in a northerly direction to the slopes of Capo Ferrato, where an initial swim is planned with a view of the characteristic lighthouse. We continue past the rocks at the surface of the water to sail towards Cala Sa Figu, also known as the bay of amphorae due to the presence of shards from Roman times. Here a swim with a mask is planned to admire the seabed rich in flora, fauna and artefacts. We continue sailing around the basalt columns of volcanic origin in the direction of Portu de S’illixi and Feraxi beach where, if possible, we will make a final stop ashore.

THE MARINE PROTECTED AREA OF CABO CARBONARA

Sail towards the long beach of Costa Rei. The excursion continues towards Punta dei Cappuccini and Cala Pira, where stands a well-preserved Spanish tower. The first stop is for a swim in the transparent waters of the characteristic “Piscine di Villasimius” (“Villasimius Natural Pools”), two coves with unique colours. The navigation continues past Punta de Is Proceddus, Punta Molentis, Simius beach, Porto Giunco and Cava Usai to reach the Island of Cavoli). Here there will be a stop ashore to visit the lighthouse or, alternatively, a stop at sea to admire the Madonna del Naufrago (Madonna of the shipwreck) on the seabed. You will then resume navigation for the last dives before returning.

Sailing under the coast to admire the long white beach of Costa Rei and discover its history and curiosities. Stop at sea at Monte Turno or Cala Sinzias for a dip, before passing Punta dei Cappuccini and reaching the beautiful bay of Cala Pira where you will disembark. The excursion continues to the ‘Piscine di Villasimius’, two coves accessible only by sea, whose fictitious name evokes the colours of the seabed. Departing from Cala Sinzias we reach Serpentara Island, within the marine protected area of Capo Carbonara, interspersing the navigation with beautiful snorkelling stops between Cala Pira and the wonderful natural pools of Villasimius. We then continue sailing to the Isola dei Cavoli (Cavoli Island), Cava Usai and Porto Giunco where we stop for lunch on board, before reaching the last stops on the way back, such as the beaches of Simius and Punta Molentis.

TOUR DEI SARACENI

This is the right tour to visit the beautiful bays and little coves in the southeastern coast of Sardinia. The tour starts with a visit to the Tower of Capo Boi, that overlooks the gorgeous beach of Solanas and the bay of Villasimius. The next stop is the headland of Capo Carbonara and its several famous beaches of find sand. From this point it is possible to admire two ancient Spanish towers from XVII century that dominate the coast. The first one, called tower of Porto Giunco, is located in the homonymous beach, close to Notteri pond, where a colony of flamingos found its home. The second tower is the imposing tower of Cala Pira, nestled between rocks of granite and century old junipers, that protect its snow white beach.

This tour will be particularly appreciated by nature lovers, who will visit the lagoons of Colostrai and Feraxi, where herons, flamingos and hawks found its home and have been living together with local fishers for centuries. In Capo Ferrato, considered a real nature wonder thanks to the beautiful places that you can find there such as Baia delle Anfore and Porto s’Ilixi, there is an old Vulcan, that overlooks the beautiful lake, from which salt was once obtained. This salt lake has been guarded for centuries by two towers: Torre di Salinas and Torre dei Dieci Cavalli. The latter was built along what it is called the “royal street” that leads to the little villages in the hinterland of Sarrabus.

OLD CITY CENTER IN CAGLIARI

After leaving the hotel, you will drive along the road that skirts the Poetto Beach and the Oasis of Molentargius, where flamingos find shelter to nest. You will first stop near the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Bonaria, on the top of Bonaria hill. The second stop is the Castello district, the beating heart of the city, where you can admire the Pisan Towers of S. Pancrazio and the Elephant, the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Bastion of San Remy. During this interesting tour, it is possible to admire many different architectural styles and ceilings covered with 500 always different rose windows.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR NURAGHE ARRUBIU

The street of the Flumendosa valley leads to the Orroli plateau, where the archeological site of the Arrubiu Nuraghe is located. The nuraghe, the only one surrounded by walls with five towers on each side, it’s the biggest one discovered so far. The big archeological complex is made of huge rocks of red basalt, covered by lichens (the word Arrubbiu means indeed red), and overlooked by a 14 m tall central tower. This defense system was able to guarantee the safety of the inhabitants who lived during the XIV century AD in huts surrouding the fortress.

DIVING

SCUBA DIVING AND SNORKELLING

A great experience for anybody who would like to explore the natural beauties of Capo Carbonara marine reserve, whose best dive sites are located between the islands Serpentara and isola dei Cavoli and close to Santa Caterina sandbank. All divers with a license can go diving in small groups, whereas people with less experience will take part to a theoretical course and a 2 hour practical lesson with a dive session accompanied by qualified guides in the most beautiful corners of the marine park. It is also possible to join diving courses (one-to-one or in a group) in order to attain a license accepted worldwide.
